Who Are We?

The Gaels Parents’ Association exists as a fundraising and fun raising organization in support of the administration, faculty, staff and most importantly, our children, the students of St. Mary’s High School. At a time when our children are attempting to make greater strides toward their independence from us, we are a vehicle through which we can maintain involvement in their lives.

Although life is busy, we hope you will make time to come to a meeting or volunteer to help at an event, or from your home. If you know that you have access to goods or services, or connections with anyone or anything that might help the school, please let us know.

Gaels meetings are listed in the calendar at www.stmary.ws/highschool or the school handbook. Please send any questions or suggestions to GaelsParents@aol.com.

~ Just a few highlights of St. Mary’s ~

·         Freshman Camp – open to all incoming freshmen. Usually 3rd week in August.

·         Freshmen placed in skills appropriate classes in Math and social studies.

·         Students are placed in courses based on achievement.  Students may be in all honors classes or only honors English. No one is ‘tracked’ in a group.

·         Advanced Placement (AP) World History is offered to qualified freshmen in place of Global I & II.

·         Extensive AP classes and Adelphi and St. John’s transferable course credit available.

·         Scholar Service Institute-SSI- offered to selected students.

·         Controlled and diverse environment helps students begin to navigate the social and moral situations of the real world with the guidance of dedicated administrators, teachers and staff.

·         Safe learning environment- Zero Tolerance for drugs & alcohol.

·         Yearly enrollment totals about 1000. This makes St. Mary’s a smaller school.  It’s difficult for a child to fall through the cracks.

·         Same day Academic Detention (AD) for missed homework.

·         Homelogic- Available on the school’s website. The students’ current homework assignments, schedule, classroom grades, progress reports, attendance, transcripts and more are posted.
