Policy

Admission:
Families must be registered in the parish before registering students in our program. Parents fill out a family registration form and submit a Baptismal certificate for each child.  There is a registration fee of $115 for one child, $160 for two children, and $180 for three or more children.  Sacrament fees:  $80 Communion fee (2nd grade)  $100 Confirmation fee (8th grade).

Attendance:
Consistent attendance is required for Grades 1 - 8. Please call the office if your child is absent for any reason.  If a faith community is to be nurtured, then faithful attendance is expected. More than FOUR (4) absences during the school year is considered serious. It will be the responsibility of the student and the parent/guardian to make up the work missed during the absence.  Excessive absences may prevent a student from advancing to the next level.

It is expected that children participate in the life of the Church each year by coming to Mass and to religious education classes.  If a child misses one or two years of instruction, entrance into the Confirmation Preparation Program will be delayed for a year.  In this way the child will be able to "catch up" on missed material.

Classes are for one full hour and children should be picked up at dismissal locations.

Behavior:
As a Catholic community we foster Christian principles of respect and courtesy toward all adults and children.  It is expected that all students will obey all program procedures and the rules set forth by their catechist.  Parents will be notified about inappropriate language or behavior.

For their own safety, students will follow arrival and dismissal procedures.

All students are required to bring their textbook and a pen/pencil to class each week.  Assignments should be neatly done and handed in on time.

Due to the alarming number of food allergies, students may not bring food or drink to class.  This includes eating candy or chewing gum.

Cancellation of Classes:
Cancellation announcements will be broadcast, along with school closings, on 1010-WINS, and News 12. Updated announcements can be obtained by calling the Faith Formation Office.

Emergency Evacuation Plan:
In the event that Parish Religious Education sessions have to be evacuated for any reason, children will be escorted to church by catechists. Parents will be contacted and instructed to meet in the northwest corner of Macy's parking lot. Then classes will be walked to that area.

Lost Books:
$18.00 fee for Grs. 1-6          $20.00 fee for Grs. 7 & 8
